Following an attempt to take possession of a parcel of land in Filin Shanya, Tudun Wada, pursuant to a court judgement, the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has convened an emergency stakeholder meeting with all concerned parties to unravel the circumstances surrounding the dispute.
Present at the meeting were the Executive Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government Area, Hon. Rayyan Hussain; Traditional rulers from Sabon Gari and Kinkinau; community leaders from Unguwar Mu’azu, Tudun Wada and Kinkinau; security personnel; and members of the affected community.
The dispute arose after Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, who is laying claim to the land based on a court judgement, attempted to take possession of the area by embarking on a demolition exercise around the Business Apprenticeship Training Centre (BATC) and the surrounding residential settlements.
The development prompted members of the community to raise the alarm and seek the intervention of relevant authorities. The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) responded promptly by visiting the site to assess the situation.
Speaking during the stakeholder meeting, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, explained that the land had previously been acquired by the government for an overriding public purpose. He further disclosed that part of the land was designated as a G-item, while another portion was planned into a residential layout.
The meeting also established that a significant number of houses within the affected residential area had obtained valid titles.
Following the intervention by KADGIS and deliberations among the stakeholders, a resolution was reached to address the matter through adequate compensation to deserving parties, with the aim of bringing the longstanding dispute to a final and peaceful resolution.
The resolution underscores the commitment of the Kaduna State Government to resolving land-related disputes through dialogue, fairness and due process while protecting legitimate interests and maintaining peace within affected communities.
