As part of efforts to find lasting solutions to land-related disputes in Kaduna State, a stakeholder meeting was convened to resolve the issue of ownership of the land on which Galma Market in Dakace, Zaria, is situated.
The meeting brought together parties to the dispute, including the executives of Zaria Local Government Council, Galma Cooperative Union, Fadama III Project, traditional institutions, security agencies and Mada Innovative Technology, with the aim of establishing the rightful ownership of the land in question.
Following extensive deliberations, it was resolved that the land be reverted to Zaria Local Government, being the rightful owner, and designated as G-item.
The Local Government was also advised to collaborate with the Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company (KMDMC) towards the development of a modern market on the site, from which the existing traders are expected to benefit.
The resolution further demonstrates Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Saniās commitment to resolving land related disputes amicably and finding lasting solutions in the spirit of justice, fairness and equity.
